On Memorial Day each year I’ve made a habit of writing a quick, yet grateful, reminder of those I’ve known who served this great country. I am forever grateful for the sacrifices made that afford me the freedom to write what’s on my heart.
But this Memorial Day I am coming forward to say, “I’m tired!”
I’m tired of:
- the residents of this great country being segregated (again) by their “pride”
- the majority of the population being discriminated against by minority opinions
- less than 4% of the population demanding to dominate the thinking of the majority of the US population
- being “discriminated” against and demeaned because I have moral disagreements
- being told that I’m intolerant or hateful for not agreeing with everyone and everything
- the lack of logical thinking where personal responsibility and conviction are concerned
- immigrants sneaking in or requesting “asylum” and then trying to incorporate the culture they escaped
- government officials offering stowaways unprecedented assistance while our soldiers live in poverty
- being told what I can and can’t say and do in a country fought for and founded on MY RIGHTS to:
- Freedom of Speech
- Freedom of Religion
- run amuck politicians who have lost sight of the Constitution, the law of our land
- paid off politicians that vote for their own financial gain, rather than represent their constituents
- paid off media who lie with a smile, calling it a “spin” so that the truth is not reported.

As I hear and read so much about “tolerance” I see that this idea is not tolerant of ALL, but tolerance of the minority opinion. No tolerance exists for the majority, who DO NOT agree with the current trends of “don’t offend me” liberalism and lazy socialism. Americans of the past were not easily offended, because they knew they lived in the greatest country on earth. They were hard working individuals, with no tolerance for laziness. They loved this land and, if voices rose against their country, they stood strong in her defense, with words and action.
This country was founded by morally responsible men and women, many who laid down their lives to establish a place where so many could live and raise their children in safety and freedom. They built a country that welcomed “legal” immigrants, to WORK and live in peace. The idea has always been to live “comfortable in your own skin,” as I’ve heard so much recently; NOT to impose a way of life onto the rest of America. The idea was NEVER to “change” our basic principles, impose foreign culture or foreign laws.
America has welcomed “legal” immigrants to enjoy her established freedoms and culture (way of life). New arrivals were free to remain unique, while “transitioning” into American life. That’s a melting pot. The civil rights movement was begun to allow ALL “citizens” to transition into the prosperous life America offered, equally.
I am proud to be an American. I am proud of family and friends, including my father and uncles, who took the ultimate risk to fight for this land. Fighting against enemies with plans to dominate the world and “change” this great nation. The American spirit, once the conviction to protect our way of life, seems to be subdued by a boisterous minority. There was a time when Americans stood together, strong Allies, respected and feared by the entire world.
Obviously, great blame lies with the government for the current lack of global respect for the US. Especially the conservative majority in Washington, DC that are now no more than leeches, sucking the life out of the country for their own, personal rewards. Blame also lies with we, the citizens, too lazy and preoccupied to stand up against our internal enemies. So many vote for a hand out rather than taking responsibility for their own lives. Blame lies with the church, so many of whom have “compromised” their Biblical convictions, in fear of losing congregants and finances.
“. . . If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.” Galatians 1:10b NLT
“You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.” James 4:4 NLT
So many of us have taken no stand against abortion or for the sanctity of marriage. Many of us who call ourselves Christians need to re-read the book. Through such hypocrisy the church has relinquished its place in American culture.
Ultimately, as always, my hope is in the Lord. I believe in His ability to wake up the citizens of this country, founded on “Christ”ian beliefs. After these years of “change,” we are a big enough mess to wake up and “change” it back!
This Memorial Day, I have designed my own “Pride Parade.” American pride! Click & Enjoy!
